Video Creation/Film Making

What is it?

This form of assessment involves students producing a video either individually or as part of a group. It can be used in a variety of different ways. It can be used as an alternative to a presentation or role play on a topic or project. It can also be used to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of a topic in a creative way.

Tips for Use

  • Decide what you want students to learn or demonstrate through their videos. Set clear guidelines to explain what they will need to do and how it will be assessed.
  • Choose a topic that fits the learning objectives and is suitable for a video project. Alternatively, offer students a choice of topics to choose from.
  • Teach students how to use recording and editing tools. Provide students with information about preferred software to use.
